Comments from the Austin Mesh Community

These are fantastic antennas for installs where low wind drag is required or you need to keep weight down. It is dependent on a ground plane because it is a monopole. Across three samples it matched at roughly 5:1 VSWR with no ground plane and dropped to about 1.2:1 at band center once placed on a 20cm metal disc. Taoglas only reaches the headline ~5 dBi on a 50x50cm plane (gain is negative in free space), so plan on mounting it to at LEAST a 20cm disc. We're currently using these on a number of tower/building installs where magnets are the only mounting option because it keeps weight and wind drag down while offering great performance.
